About Us

Researchers from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Drs. Jeremy Jewell and Stephen Hupp, partnered with the SASSI Institute in 2005 to publish the Behaviors & Attitudes Drinking & Driving Scale (BADDS). The BADDS is an empirically developed and validated pre and posttest psychological tool used to assess attitudes, behaviors, and intervention effectiveness related to impaired driving.

The SASSI Institute is an internationally recognized test publishing company and leader in substance use research-based instrument development. Located in Springville, Indiana, the SASSI Institute has been distributing substance use measures across the globe since 1988.

As a test developer and publisher, the SASSI Institute is known for its innovative adult and adolescent Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI) instruments. The SASSI identifies the likely presence or absence of substance use disorders based on the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic symptom criteria for substance use disorders.
